Christmas Sparkle
Every wedding is different.
But the one which truly took the cake was Stella and Chris' wedding at The Arches, Sentosa, on Christmas Day.
Indeed, there was no better occasion for Striiiings to up the ingenuity factor and help to create a wedding that was truly memorable!
For one, the wedding was not at the hotels or venues that Striiiings had played at in the past. It was at The Arches, a colonial bungalow nestled amongst the trees just next to the Merlion, with a lovely courtyard and steps leading down to the famed landmark.
Whilst the food was served inside the bungalow, the action was taking place outside where Striiiings was located.
Memorable highlighs from this Sentosa wedding:
a) Some truly lovely march-ins. As Striiiings played march-in music like the Kanon in D and Por Una Cabeza, the bride and groom glided down the staircase at the side of the bungalow to emerge amongst the guest who were milling around in the courtyard.
b) Striiiings accompanied the couple's first dance as a married pair, to the strains of Eric Clapton's "Wonderful Tonight".
c) As the day was also the bride's parent's wedding anniversary, the surprise announcement was accompanied by our strains of Teresa Teng's "Tian Mi Mi" signalling the change in mood and generation!
d) The bride also performed a special surprise item for her husband with the band, a rendition of a Kenny G song. She played her practised piece on our keyboard, as our violist helped her along with the melody.
We certainly hope to have a chance to play at The Arches again!
