Corporate Elegance

Corporate functions are a different ball game from weddings altogether, but Striiiings have done our fair share of corporate events and the performance we put up for shipping company Masterbulk last week was warmly received.

We are glad. After all, the President and CEO of the company actually took pains to meet us face to face before deciding to go with us, and he was suitably convinced to put his faith in our group.

The highlight of the evening, which was held at the Four Seasons Hotel's elegant grand ballroom, was an item which the President requested that we put up as a performance which was announced by the beautiful MC for the event, Jacqueline, also provided by Striiiings.

We played the always-popular Por Una Cabeza as the guests remained silent, and we got a warm round of applause in return.

Noteworthy too, was that instead of the usual violin-piano combination, Masterbulk decided to try the flute-violin-piano combo, and more than a few guests commented that the flute sounded truly lovely. It was definitely unique and different, and we are sure the guests will remember the music that we played that night.

Nyee Phoe Gardens

Right on the heels of our last performace at the Mandai Zoological Gardens, our group was hired to perform at yet another interesting venue for a wedding, Nyee Phoe Gardens at Kranji.

This wedding was slightly more demanding than usual, for the group has never gone to Kranji before, let alone perform there, so we had to make a first reconnaissance trip to study the layout of the venue as well as determine if there were ample sound systems available since everything was to be held outdoors under canopies.

The group then recommended a sound company to the clients, and then made a second trip down with the sound tech guys to have a short discussion on what was to be done in order to help the musicians sound grand and classy in the challenging environment.

Last night, after over a month of preparations, STRIIIINGS was happy to leave the newly married couple with smiles on their faces, a testament to a job done well, to our great satisfaction.
