Chapel charm
There is something sublime about playing in a chapel. Somehow the mood and acoustics of a high-ceilinged place of worship, with stained glass windows all round and chandeliers to boot, lends itself beautifully to our music.
Tonight, we played at CHIJmes for a wedding. Pianist Paul played solo keyboard during the reception on the lawn outside, before the rest of the group joined in for the couple's march-in in the chapel itself.
For the couple, we did arrangements of two songs special to them, which piano quartets do not normally play but which turned out excellent. For her bridal gown march-in, we played "Bridge Over Troubled Water" and for the second march-in, as the guests scattered rose petals over the couple, we played Elton John's "Your Song".
The group's Kanon was also very well-received, being that it was perfect for the chapel.
